The wait is over. For a music lover who was used to hearing a new Himesh Reshammiya album practically every fortnight last year, it was quite a wait [almost 6 months, as ‘Aap Ki Khatir’ (Aug 2006) was his last album] to hear the composer/singer again for a new project. Agreed that some of his last few albums were not as popular or successful as his work earlier in the year, a Himesh Reshammiya stamp still means a lot. With lyricist Sameer in and director Vikram Bhatt at the helm who utilized Pritam to the fullest for the score of his ‘Ankahee’, one expects a passionate musical score from this Aftab Shivdasani, Celina Jaitley and Amrita Arora starrer.
Himesh Reshammiya has gone for a kill in ‘Red’ by singing seven out of total nine songs (including remixes) in the album. For his fans, it is a bonanza of its kinds. But would his bashers have a field day too? Well, don’t know about that but at least his fans won’t be quite kicked with the final outcome.

Year 2006 has been laded with Himesh Reshammiya with a new album from him releasing practically every month! January saw the release of ‘Aap Ka Surroor’ that is still registering great sales, in February came ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’ that had his version of title song turning out to be the album’s USP, March brought us ‘Tom Dick and Harry’, ‘Banaras’ and ‘Shaadi Se Pehle’, April had a hit album in ‘36 China Town’, May saw the twin success in the form of ‘Phir Hera Pheri’ and ‘Chup Chup Ke’, June celebrated his best work since ‘Aksar’ in the form of ‘Ahista Ahista’ while July was crowded too with ‘Anthony Kaun Hai’, ‘Rocky’ and ‘Dil Diya Hai’. From August onwards things may be a little different as ‘Aap Ki Khatir’ appears to be the last of his albums for some more weeks to come before he hits back again.

Life comes back full circle for the makers of ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ as the same team returns with ‘Dil Diya Hai’. Producer Balabhai Patel, director Aaditya Dutt, actor Emraan Hashmi, lyricist Sameer and above all composer Himesh Reshammiya, who held the mike for the first time in ABA and since then neither he nor the music company has looked back. The film stars new find Geeta Basra as the sole heroine along with Ashmit Patel and Mithun Chakravorty. In company of lyricist Sameer and DJ Akbar Sami, Himesh Reshammiya promises to churn out yet another string of hit tunes, that come in a rather standardized format of six tracks and remixes for each of them!
The question on everyone’s lips is - “Will the magic of ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’ be repeated with ‘Dil Diya Hai’”? Well, after hearing the album one feels that it doesn’t really happen in it’s entirety but still there are certain songs that would keep the listener interested in the album!
