Now that’s Bollywood for you. Unpredictable, interesting and highly exciting.

Just when one thought that all Ram Gopal Verma was interested in was to churn out innumerous flicks by his in-house directors through the gates of his Factory, he has gone ahead and signed a film for en outside production house and even started shooting for the film.

The production house is none other T-Series that has recently made feel-good love stories films like ‘Humko Deewana Kar Gaye’ and ‘Lucky No Time For Love’. On the other hand RGV is known for his hard hitting dramas. Hence the film’s genre is a mix of both schools of filmmaking i.e. a musical-romantic thriller, which stars Fardeen Khan, Bipasha Basu and Esha Deol.

Reshammiya - Bajaj association goes years back

Published by sunny under HR Articles, HR News

Joginder Tuteja, IndiaGlitz [Thursday, July 13, 2006]

While it is a known fact that today Himesh Reshammiya is a household name and films carry a power to be sold solely on the strength of composer’s presence, there has been a producer duo that has repeated him ever since he composed for them around a decade back. The film was Salman Khan starrer ‘Bandhan’ [1998] where he was responsible for two tracks ‘Baanke Choore’ and ‘Balle Balle’.

Since then there has been no looking back for Narendra Bajaj and Shyam Bajaj who have repeated Reshammiya for each of their ventures, be it Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaaye, Black Mail or their biggest musical hit till date - ‘Aksar’.

From collaborating with his mentor Salman Khan to paying a tribute to RD Burman, singer Himesh Reshammiya is on a roll.

Current music sensation Himesh Reshammiya was flooded with birthday greetings in the month of May, when his actual birthday happens to be this month. Was he then observing ‘double’ birthdays based on numerological calculations? “I don’t have two birthdays! It’s on July 23, not May 11 as has been incorrectly posted on websites,” he clears any confusion, “It was rather embarrassing when I got over 6000 greetings from fans all over the world.”

As for his actual birthday plans, “I am planning to launch my first-ever fan-friendly website with factual data.”

Busy shooting his video ‘No Way’ for the movie ‘Anthony Kaun Hai’, Reshammiya, whose father Vipinbhai was a part of the late RD Burman’s band of ace musicians, might try stepping into RD Burman’s shoes. More so since he has been picked by Ram Gopal Varma for his version of ‘Sholay’. In this film, Reshammiya will also be singing the ‘Mehbooba Mehbooba’ number. “My version of Panchamda’s ‘Mehbooba’ will definitely not be a re-mix. It will be my original composition with different but hi-tech orchestration score to match,” he informs.

My best is yet to come – Reshammiya

Published by sunny under HR Articles, HR News

Mumbai: Love him or hate him, you just can’t ignore him.

Music director-tuned-singer Himesh Reshammiya sung his way up the music charts this year but says his best is yet to come.

If I am saying that it is the best music of next year then see I have to face you people also. So, I know ki joote bhi pad sakte hain. So, itne confidence se kah raha hoon to sure hoon to kah raha hoon. (I know I can be a flop. But I am saying it with so much confidence as I know I will be a hit), Reshammiya says.

Call it confidence or over-confidence, but that’s Reshammiya claiming to deliver next year’s biggest musical hit in director Vipul Shah’s new project Namaste London.

In an industry where modesty is supposed to be the ‘right’ thing, Reshammiya claims have left Shah a little apprehensive.

“Today he is claimed quite big. I am scared. I told him that you claimed something so big that I am scared. But he said he is ready to face the music, Shah says.

Reshammiya is also banking on lyricist Javed Akhtar, whom he’s working with for the first time.

Though Javed is also skeptical about these tall claims, they make him nostalgic nonetheless.

When we were in 70’s writing scripts, we were known for talking like this. That we would finish a script and even before its release we would announce that this film will at least earn this much and this film will be golden jubilee - so on and so forth. So when I see someone younger talking like this it reminds of my younger days, Akhtar says.

Javed Akhtar teams up with Himesh Reshammiya for the first time

Published by sunny under HR Articles, HR News

By IndiaFM News Bureau, June 29, 2006 - 09:32 IST

Vipul Shah’s is all set to start work for his first Indo-British venture Namaste London in July 2006. The movie has an interesting cast of Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Upen Patel, Rishi Kapoor and host of Hollywood actors that are still to be finalized.

Vipul Shah has also hired Peter Field as director of photography who has shot Brad Pitt starrer Troy, Tomb Raider, Da Vinci Code and the Bond flick Tomorrow Never Dies. The Hollywood heavyweight has been hired with a specific purpose of making looking London look very different. He has been hired at an astronomical amount that reportedly exceeds a crore which perhaps makes him the costliest director of photography in Indian cinema.

Now for the first time Vipul Shah is bringing the unique combination of stalwart lyrist Javed Akhtar and current music sensation Himesh Reshmmiya to compose music of Namaste London. Despite the fact that the two personalities have been hugely popular in their respective musical fields, they surprisingly have never worked together. Vipul Shah brings the two maestros together.

Reshammiya turns down films

Published by sunny under HR Articles, HR Interviews

It looks like he’s unstoppable. After fobbing off several offers to face the camera, Himesh Reshammiya was seriously tempted by an author-backed role that gave him a chance to play a musician. “But I said no finally. I’ve seen what has happened to other musicians who’ve attempted acting. I don’t want any distractions from my music.”

If there was any doubt about Himesh Reshammiya’s astonishing across-the-billboard popularity, IIFA this year has put it to rest.

The composer-singer who again bagged the best vocalist’s award was given full-on rock-star treatment by the audience. According to eyewitnesses Himesh was mobbed by hysterical fans with far more gusto than some of the more visible stars who attended the event.

Aa dekhen zaraa:
Himesh Reshammiya

He’s the toast of the season. All his songs have been chartbusters. His compositions have managed to sell movies on their sheer strength. But now, Reshammiya faces the biggest challenge of them all.

As he’s all set to rock the US with a spate of concerts in July-August, he’s also going to be taking his greatest inspiration, head-on. AR Rahman will perform in the US at the same time as Himesh, and it will be interesting to see who will win this mother of all battles.

A local show promoter says, “Himesh is very popular among Asians at large; not just Indians. Rahman may be a bigger name internationally but for the Asian community, it’s Himesh all the way.”

Himesh’s tour is called Aap Ka Suroor Live In Concert and is being backed by one of the biggest names in the business, Vijay Taneja of Elite Entertainment while Rahman has tied up with the US-based Global Rhythms as partners for his shows.

The only difference is that while Rahman would be performing at just a handful of cities, Himesh would be taking his troupe all over the country and Canada as well, in a tour spanning over two months.

Incidentally, the average cost of a single Himesh Reshammiya show in the US is around 100,000 US dollars (approx Rs 47 lakh) and the ticket rates have been priced between $35 to $75 (approx Rs 1600 to Rs 3500). These would be classified as among the highest rates commanded by a music director.

Himesh Reshammiya - One of the most consistent music composers of today

Published by sunny under HR Articles

One of the most consistent music composers of today, Himesh Reshammiya has successfully established his own distinct style of music and is continuously rocking the roster of music chartbusters in the tinsel town. ‘Tere Naam’, whose album sale has broken all records in the last seven years, was a turning point for him.

Reshammiya is currently setting the music charts on fire with his runaway hits for Bollywood flicks like ‘Aashiq Banaya Aapne’, ‘Aksar’, ‘Maine Pyar Kyon Kiya’ and others. A person who is actually in love can easily find personal identification and romance in every song of his.

With ‘Aksar’, Reshammiya is hitting the marquee this season with spontaneity. Several filmmakers like David Dhawan, who swore by Anu Malik’s sounds, have also made a sly switch to him. With Reshammiya, one can safely expect a musical score high on melody and soul.

Is Rehman out of Dasavatharam?

Published by sunny under HR Articles, HR News

IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, June 27, 2006]

The latest buzz is that sought-after Bollywood music-composer Himesh Reshammiya has been assigned to compose music for Kamal Haasan’s Dasavatharam. He replaces A R Rehman, who turned down the offer following his earlier commitments in Bollywood.

Reshammiya, who tunes in recent Bollywood movies like 36 China Town, Phir Hera Pheri, Garam Masala have topped the charts, will be making his debut with Dasavatharam to Tamil.

It may be recalled that it was Kamal Haasan who had brought Shankar-Ehshaan-Loy to Kollywood with his Alavandhan.

Adding one more to the Bollywood music directors making their foray to Tamil film industry is Himesh Reshammiya.
