Music profile: Himesh Reshammiya
Neat Transition
He has done it! Himesh Reshammiya is the only singer-music composer who has, in recent memory, become a hit at the box office too. His Aap Kaa Surroor: The Movie: The Real Luv Story had the year’s biggest box office opening. Fans asked the obvious: Will Himesh concentrate on music or movies going forward?
Himesh Reshammiya gives credit to those who are responsible for his debut film, Aap Kaa Surroor’s enormous success at the box office - his fans. It was because of them that he has become a big star on the silver screen, he says humbly. Yesteryear singers K.L. Saigal and Kishore Kumar were the only singers who made it big on the silver screen. Later, singer after singer was rejected by the audience; they preferred to hear the singer’s voice and not see him on screen. Even the handsome Sonu Nigam was no exception. However, Himesh has struck gold in front of the camera too.

His songs have been making the autowallas go Jhoom Jhoom for some years now. His surroor makes them cry out Aap Ki Kashish , each time they start their autos. And just in case, you do not quite relate to their Arman, then that’s just too bad. Himeshbhai ke songs and the auto ride come as a package deal and it is hard to ignore them both!
On June 29, we got to witness another side to this Himesh Junoon as we went to watch the ‘real’ movie, Aap Kaa Surroor , at a movie theatre located at Esplanade. And in the crowd we found lots of auto drivers who tirelessly ferry us from Chandni Chowk to Park Circus and vice versa day in and day out.

Composer-Singer Himesh Reshammiya is a thing of the past. The now-successful leading man of Aap Ka Surroor will now have ‘actor-composer-singer’ on his calling-card. That’s right. Himesh will only let his music be heard in films that feature him in the lead.
“I’ve several offers as a leading man. But I’ll only be doing three films a year per year. And since I’ll be doing such sparing work as an actor I might as well restrict my music to my own films. If I do music for outside films then the USP of my acting vehicles will be lost. I don’t want to cheat the producers who’ll sign me. I’m now going to represent a never-before package of music-singing-acting. My next music score will be for my next starring vehicle, 8-10 months from now,” says Himesh.

Himesh rules in India, Deols win abroad
NEW DELHI: Three films released a week ago with different storylines, have grossed impressive collections in India and abroad, spiking the belief that multiple releases on a single day spell doom for one another.
Trade magazines had their fingers crossed about the success of the Deols starrer Apne , the romantic-thriller Aap Kaa Surroor besides Awarapan , dealing with flesh trade in Southeast Asia, all of which released on June 29.

From a child artiste to Reshammiya’s lady love in ‘Aap Ka Suroor’, Hannsikaa Motwani has ‘grown’ overnight literally.
When did she grow up? is the question that hit viewers when they saw Hannsikaa Motwani (appeared as child artiste in the TV show Kyunkii Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and the film Koi Mil Gaya) playing Himesh Reshammiya’s love interest in Aap ka Surroor.
Also, the curiosity that was built up by keeping her away from the media glare was immense. Yes, care was taken to keep the female lead under wraps, confesses Hansika. I guess it was done simply because had I been questioned about my work before the movie’s release, I wouldn’t have been able to speak much, explains Hannsikaa.
