Like a Gujjubhai stockbroker studying the bear and bull run of Dalal Street, Bollywood entertainer Himesh Reshammiya slips into character for his next film.

It is called HHey Gujju , a comedy directed by Satish Kaushik for Studio 18, in which the singer-actor plays a double role. One character is that of a Gujarati bhai from Rajkot called Karsanlal Trikamlal Gandhi who is settled in Chandni Chowk, New Delhi; the other is an NRI Gujju casanova called Akash Patel.

Running long slender fingers through his thick mane of hair, Himesh said, “When Trikamlal and Akash come face-to-face, a comedy of errors take place.” Who’s the heroine in HHey Gujju? “Since there are two of me in the film, there will be two new pretty faces opposite me. I can’t reveal their names just yet though,” he replied roguishly.

A year ago on June 29, he made his debut with Aap Kaa Surroor . “This day is really special to me because it’s my mother’s birthday,” revealed Himesh. “ HHey Gujju too was launched with a song recording on the same day last year.” The new film, naturally, will have his signature music. “I will be crooning a lot of soulful folk fusion music. And you will really love it,” he promised.

Shooting has begun and Karsanlal Trikamlal Gandhi and Akash Patel are slated to hit the market in August 2009. Apart from HHey Gujju, Himesh is working on five films including Karzzzz , starring Urmila Matondkar, which will be released in October, Kajraare , A New Love Ishtory and Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekkh Mudh Mudh Ke , all of which are scheduled for release in 2009. The enterprising entertainer is looking fit. He is working out these days. “I love the new me,” he declared. “I am off carbohydrates. I eat nachani rotis, lot of salads and I swim regularly.”

Which Gujjubhai would go off carbs, now!
