Karzzzz ka funda!
Subhash Ghai’s loss has turned out to be a huge gain for Bhushan Kumar of T Series. Recently, Adlabs bought the world wide rights for the Himesh Reshammiya starrer Karzzzz for a whopping Rs 35 crore excluding the music and video rights which are with T Series.
The rights of the film was bought by Bhushan Kumar for a paltry sum of Rs 3 crore from Karz’s original filmmaker Subhash Ghai. Incidentally, Ghai was also given the option of being a 40 per cent partner in the film. However, Ghai did not foresee Karzzzz being such a big money maker and refused the offer. He chose to take only Rs 3 crore and not be a partner in the remake.
Our source says “Ghai was very surprised when he saw the amount of money that Karzzzz has already generated. He never expected Adlabs to buy it for Rs 35 crore that too without the music and video rights.”
The music of Karzzzz is composed by Himesh Reshammiya. Besides the music, T Series has also retained the video rights and hence all the money generated from the DVD and VCDs will go in their kitty. The source adds, “Ghai definitely did not make a wise decision by turning down the partnership offer.”
Another source close to Ghai says, “Subhash Ghai was initially disappointed about the missed opportunity. It is a business decision that went wrong.”
Rajesh Sawhney of Adlabs is very happy about acquiring the rights of Karzzzz. He says, “Karzzzz is a combination of Himesh’s talent and a classic hit film. We are confident that Karzzzz will remake history.”

for the sake of the good relationship to be maintained between Bhushan Kumar and HR…I am glad that T-Series has already made a profit…each and every bollywood personality must be wonderstuck as well…himeshji…you are becoming unstoppable and unreachable by the day…i have come to realize that my music concerns would be going out of the window…my expectations are unrealistic in your current scenerio…so I would have to contend with what you have to offer…since you are selling faster than hotcakes,you call the show…so Il wait,watch and hope for the best
well…what can I say…I guess that miracles have become a routine for himesh reshammiya…it is his destiny…my catchphrase for HR is “the undisputed king of indian melody”…but i am going to add one more in addition that goes like “HR-the miracle man”…

Definitely Adlabs had tasted success with Aap Kaa Surroor last year with some factors going against the film like Himesh was a newcomer, the film had medium release (418 with greater percentage of single screen), multiplexes also gave limited shows in 1st wk(6-8 shows for Apne while 3-4 show for AKS). Still then it collected a net of Rs 18.95 crore and declared a HIT. This time I think it would be a much bigger release 600+ and there will be more shows. Adlabs have rightly valued Karzzz and will recover the amount as well as the film being second HIT. Lets pray and wish for the success. Who knows the film may be a Super Hit.
