i was, i am and i forever will remain a hard-core addict of HR's music...quitting his music is like quitting an addiction...anyone with a habitual addiction (e.g. of smoking, liquor etc) finds it extremely difficult to quit all at once...and when an addict is in no mood or anticipation to quit his addiction but faces a sudden out-of-the-blue indefinite shortage of supply, then you can imagine his position...this extreme decision "from surplus supply to limited supply" created a vacuum which urges a request to increase that supply to "optimal/reasonable"...well by this statement, one could interpret me to be HR's music freak rather than a fanatic...but i guez that is the hypnotis HR's music has over me...

@shakthiee...interesting feedback...yes i agree with you that neither do I want (now at this point) to miss HR's acting because he has really worked hard and deserves it...no problems with acting at all...in fact i would like him to do as many films as he can coz with that comes a music album too...my ONLY problem with his acting was that it ate up most of HR's high-profile legendary music career...provided after approximately 2-3 months a chartbuster album hits the stands (i.e. approx 6-7 albums in an year) along with the prospect of watching his movies is great...judging by your post, it seems you have a good sense of unique HR melody...

@meenakshi...very well said indeed...An actor is recognised through his acting and a musician through his/her music...so why mix up and link the two...why not have the best from both worlds of music and acting...which makes me wonder even more about his defensive decision...

Had things been within my control...i would have expressively taken a petetion entailing a list of all fans who do miss and are underpriviledged of his infectious tunes with a request to find a way to increase music...

...as they say...imagination is far away from reality...i guez its only a waiting game until HR realizes this fact and a hope for the good old times to return in future...

@ diehard HR fanatic, u are absolutely correct. U are absolutely expressing my ideas/feelings. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw your article in the post. It is really very sad that himeshji has given such a statement. But, inshahallah, one day his ideas may get change. He may start giving music/soulful music for other films in the near future. I am craving for that day to come. Also, I don’t want him to give up his acting. (he looks dashing and I don’t want to miss him) I know he may change his ideas if he happens to read these articles coz he gives importance to his each and every fan. So, don’t worry. Be +ve. Himeshji will never disappoint us. And I don’t want to get into ur argument regarding AAA…. Awarapan….aapne. but still ur idea related to making music for south films especially for tamil films is very nice. Since I am a tamil girl, I would relish himeshji’s songs in my language (though music has no language and fans like u enjoy his creations beyond language limits like me, I am quite sure!!)
Although I wished to watch himeshji as a hero in a full fledged role, I never hated to watch him doing cameos; even it was more interesting to see his appearance in others’ films.
Coming to dasavatharam, kamal hasan sir has introduced himesh as a “northern star” to the tamil audience’ who gathered for the music release function. And I missed himeshji as he missed the flight. Now our south people too started enjoying his songs. There was a time that when u go for shopping in the hi-fi music show rooms or even in the platforms (we call it as Sunday market in pondicherry) and u ask for hindi songs, u are sure of getting himeshji! Even if the CD wrapper reads “disco babes” himeshji will be on the cover and we are sure of getting his songs. Wherever u go u were sure of feeling his music, in our park we used to have dancing water fountain, both tamil and hindi songs, for hindi songs we had himeshji’s top numbers. I don’t know whether this will happen in the future or not but I’ll be his fan forever.
The next thing is himeshji’s old good-songs which I like the most. Like u, I always like the songs of “before aashique banaya aapne era” a bit more. Especially, the songs from yeh hai jalwa, dulhan hum le jaayenge……the soft female chorus in oodani ud ke naachun…… the music from rajasthani/gujarathi folk instrument from ho jaaye kuch meetha ho jaaye……
Time will come for reshammiyans like us to sing “kuch meetha ho jaaye”. Till that date keep patience my friend……..
