News: Himeshji!!
Composer-Singer Himesh Reshammiya is a thing of the past. The now-successful leading man of Aap Ka Surroor will now have ‘actor-composer-singer’ on his calling-card. That’s right. Himesh will only let his music be heard in films that feature him in the lead.
“I’ve several offers as a leading man. But I’ll only be doing three films a year per year. And since I’ll be doing such sparing work as an actor I might as well restrict my music to my own films. If I do music for outside films then the USP of my acting vehicles will be lost. I don’t want to cheat the producers who’ll sign me. I’m now going to represent a never-before package of music-singing-acting. My next music score will be for my next starring vehicle, 8-10 months from now,” says Himesh.
In the meantime, Himesh might do a non-film album. “I think my minimised exposure will enhance the prospects of all the three films that I’ll sign as an actor,” he says.
Isn’t he scared that once he is out of sight-and-sound he’ll be out of mind? He says, “Certainly not! Once you reach that certain level of success, less becomes more. Earlier when I was finding my way in the entertainment business I needed 30-40 assignments. Now, just three is enough.”
Himesh is enthused like never before. “Even those who thought my acting career was doomed have changed their minds. I don’t blame them. My journey from composer to singer to acting has been odd.”
As for his stint as a hero, he says, “The box office is very powerful parameter of stardom. I’ll continue to treat my acting career like I did my singing and composing careers…. like a newcomer. If I start thinking of myself as a brand I’ll be finished.”
He has several film offers from the biggest banners of the country. “I don’t know how it happened. But now that God has been kind I’ve much more to strive for. I see a long struggle ahead,” he says. - Subhash K Jha
Mulund Resident Dhanashree Barge’s dream came true when she got to spend around half-an-hour with her favourite star Himesh Reshammiya, who met her at his residence after she won a contest organised by Mumbai Mirror. Himesh met Dhanashree and gifted her autographed cap and an audio CD of his film Aap Ka Surroor…
The girl seemed nervous before meeting her idol and when we entered the star’s Versova residence, she was all the more excited to see Himesh talking on the phone in his building compound.
Himesh was his usual quiet self. He took Dhanashree to the terrace and chatted up with her. Barge said that she had watched Himesh’s acting debut inspite of the rains. She believed that he was indeed the first rockstar of India and after the films release, the industry has got a replacement of Kishore Kumar, who was not only a great singer but also a very fine actor. She asked Himesh if he is going to do more films and Himesh replied saying that he would indeed do more films for fans like her.
While leaving, Dhanshree seemed thrilled with the interaction and said that this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. She is going have a huge party at her house and at her office to celebrate. - Kunal M Shah

this is really shocking and heart-breaking. 8-10 months is a long wait. 3-4months were acceptable but 8-10 months without new inventions from himeshji is very dissapointing. himeshji i agree that once u reach a certain level of success less becomes more but for your fans more becomes less:(. it is very pleasing to know that before you needed 30-40 assignments and now 3 will do the work of 30’s and 40’s. may allah give you abundant success but still i would say that 8-10 months is going to be like years without you. @die hard HR fanatic i think that now i should agree with you because thinking that 8-10 months without any new music from himeshji makes me upset and :(. you do have a point in saying “When HR started composing, he quit TV production, now that he started acting, could he….!!??…. “. also himeshji said “I’ll continue to treat my acting career like I did my singing and composing careers…. like a newcomer” and as a newcomer he will certainly have to pay more attention towards acting. this 8-10 months made me read your comment again. but all that we can do is pray for his best.

i now take my words back “hey guys u need not worry our love and his demand in film industry will certainly make him do more then three films. after all he is the best and in demand too!!!” i now feel guilty of myself that i felt this way inspite of being among his biggest fans @ die hard HR fanatic i wish that he has read your comment because now i have also started to feel the loss you wrote about. his compositios are great and hearttouching, they have a soul in them and i never got to here such compositios before except few. i know that great singers like nusrat fathe ali khan, lata mangeshker, mukesh and all those have given great songs with great meanings in there songs but as i am still a teenager and when i got more towards music the best i have ever heard is himeshji’s. there is always something special and deep in his songs and like u i would also not prefer to lose this great music for his acting. i wish himeshji get success in all that he does but losing his music for acting is not at all preferable. we have and we may get great actors like amitabh, sharuk and all those but we may not get a singer/composer like himeshji he is simply the best. even i am not against his acting he himself said that he wants to be amitabh bachan for his singing and i think that he has achieved it but now i want him to be dilip kumar of in terms of music.
may allah hit you as an actor as well but i would not like to lose your music for your acting just like ‘die hard HR fanatic ‘ no other singer has ever attracted me as much you did first because of ur great attitude and then because of ur great great great music.
i am sorry if i have said something that is not appropriate but this is the way i feel. and i request ‘die hard HR fanatic’ to comment in this article just the way you did earlier so that those like me who did not realize the loss of his music can agree with you because i fell that you have those powers.

Three films a year is not enough… I know this will kick out all other actors out of business.. but we want more films starring Himesh Reshammiya.

@nida & die hard HR fanatic: Guys chill…I know many of you are concerned with the fact that Himeshji is only going to do 3 films per year but we must remember that he is a human being & is not a machine who produces hit songs all the time lolz!! Have you all forgotten how critics said ‘his music was becoming reptitive’ last summer & all his albums e.g. dil diya hai/rocky/chup chup ke etc never did that well because they all ended up releasing at the same time, even when i personally feel that they all had potential to be super duper hit albums (dil diya hai is just an amazing musical score=D)!! So at least by having 3 albums - it will mean 3 individual hits
as they will release at different times of the year & no one will get the chance to say the word ‘repetitive’ either 
& don’t forget the non-filmi album

i may be greedy and want himeshji to sing more then acting but jem i do agree with you that he is not a machine. i just don’t want him to limit his singing to just three films. anyways niether we are himesh reshammiya nor we know what is more better so all that i can do is support him and pray for him. it’s fine if he does 3 films but as he has mentioned non-film albumbs will also be satisfying atleast one or two per year along with film albumbs. in this way we will have more of him.
its gr8 article jem himesh has taken a right decision at a very right time we all want him to be successful whether in music singing and acting.

A very good decision by HR.. 3 films per year is a rocking news. Less music..superb quality! I am all satisfied with this.. and to be outta of his movie..he is bringing a non-film album…Thats kool!!
Umm..i would like to see him compose music for 1 or 2 films of outside too..not juz his own movies. But well thats ok.

After 8 months..hmm..means till the music releases it would be like an year…so we gotta wait for an yr for an HR movie album…its quite thrilling..but well i know this will take him to greater heights! ROCK ON HR!

I strongly urge each n every himesh fan here to please take into view the following important comments very very seriously/carefully…they are about his career change….please don’t ignore them, don’t just turn a blind eye as they have future implications about his decision to act…n it took considerable thought and I don’t feel to write them after this… Every himesh fan should read this….if it goes ignored then it’s a pity/waste to take so much initiative and post all this….very strong meaningful words these….i want to convey this to as many himesh fans out there

This interview confirms that I have been robbed of HR-the composer/singer by HR-the actor…now I get it what he earlier meant by “exclusive and package”…so he won’t take music assignments as they will reduce the USP of his acting…n prashant chaddha is partly responsible for all of this….
HR’s performance in AKS was fine. Ok, he can act, no denying that. He can improve on it. But if a fan says that “HR’s acting is better than his music (considering what “divine / heavenly melodious” music he has given since his debut), then he/she is just pretending to be a fan n who doesn’t take his music seriously or that fan is cheating/lying to himself and flattering/obliging HR unduly….jhooth nahi bolna….yaara sach kehna….im saying this coz himeshji will always give thought to his fans comments
I think that the people who don’t like HR’s music will now get a break and will be happy whereas other banners who cannot sign himesh will be concerned by the unplayable googly thrown by himesh which even I cannot understand…n perhaps now is the time for other composers to get their share of limelight due to this blessing in disguise. One more thing, most probably himesh will sing all the songs in his movies, so no other male playback singers anymore….in sab ka patta cut….no more just chills, yeh dil to mila hai (sonu nigam), teri yaads, lutf de gayi’s (KK), tere naams, tune zindagi mein aake’s (udit naratan), bardaashts, churaliya hai tumne’s, just walk into my life, mere naal, carbon copy (shaan), main jahan rahoon (rahat fateh ali khan) etc etc etc….himeshji has limited his music potential and variety to the ultimate core! Kuch pane ke liye kuch khona parta hai, pata nahi kisi ne kya paya, lekin main bhaut kuch khounga! Feel like crying, heart-broken….
It is not that I want a new album everyday, I know that quality can suffer. But himeshji has consistently been giving all good quality (roughly average 10-12) albums a year for past 7-8 years, past records speak for themselves! Some would say that may be after ahista ahista last year, his quality of music deteriorated/repetitive so he should do fewer albums….i have only 1 answer…it is not because himeshji ran out of good music or that he stopped working…its coz he had to finish his assignments quickly and go for a world tour and commence shooting at the expense of music which suffered…so he diverted his work instead of just concentrating on music (like the past) and producing musical gems one after another.
I have always admired himeshji for this – a new album rocks the charts upside down, by the time it is making an exit, a new one storms the market….and HR is all over the place….he is ruling the charts….so many albums/songs are occupying various positions….but now all this is changing….the key words are “longer waits, huge gaps, lamba intezaar, patience pays, patience is a virtue”….
A piece of statistics for you….himeshji claims that he has 1000 songs in his song bank and that he composes two songs per day….well I doubt that now….man if he really does that/would have done that then how many songs could he have been having by now….
….1000+ song bank / average 6 songs per album = 167 albums
In the past….6 songs per album * average 12 albums = 72 songs per year
In the future….now 6 songs per album * 3 albums = 18 songs per year
In the past….167 albums / averag 12 albums per year or 1000 songs / 72 songs = 14 years
New decision….167 albums / 3 albums per year or 1000 songs / 18 songs = 55 years
So going by his decision, it seems that he may not be able to exhaust that bank and offer all the music he posesses….
….thats why I say, when it comes to HR’s music, you certainly don’t wanna mess with me, coz his music makes a difference to me, that much of a difference that I can pick up a fight with HR-the actor (fun-intented), coz it made me think and I wonder why it dosen’t make anyone else think too…I mean himeshji is saying 3 albums and people are turning a blind eye and saying ok, no worries mate…2moro if he says that I will do just 1 film and 1 album and become even more exclusive, then will the fans say yes? Do you realize how much time 1 film takes to release? The first promo tanhaiyaan of AKS was shown in London concert somewhere around August and the movie released in June….just count the number of months….so expect such similar waits in future…. Himeshji don’t forget that your fans have made you exclusive…n im one of them…I pay to get enough of you….may be his music dosen’t mean that much to some (im not doubting any1 though)….I guess that’s where the ultimate himesh hard-core music fanatics get separated from just fans ….sorry….strong words….i don’t wanna say but now the need arises to say this….but its coz I believe that himesh reshammiya is the best thing that ever happened to the music industry!!
Depressing interview….a feeling of helplessness….a waiting game begins….himeshji….i got a message for you in your own words “na meri saansein chale,na mere pal chin kate, beete na mere dina, teri nayi album ke bina….i will wait for that day when you will give the good news that you will increase your number of albums to atleast 6-8 (anything more would a blessing at this point considering the musical crisis) from just three”
You know, it is very easy for me to log on here and always say “good luck himeshji, my best wishes are always with you in whatever you do”….i post to give evry1 a reason to think and as a healthy discussion….people would say….dude, just let it be, just take it as it is, whats the fuss about, HR is also an actor now, that’s it…but if I express myself honestly, then it is easier said than done….coz after reading an interview, I can either post or keep my comments to myself….even if I meet/interact in any way with himeshji….ofcourse I will tell him that he rocks as an actor even though I want to tell him all this…or else he will tell me “aage chalta ban”
Finally, one thing himesh has proved that he is no less than anyone in bollywood….actually I don’t blame himeshji for taking up acting….if I would have got so many big offers also even I would have taken them as charity begins at home….then who cares whether I can act or not as far as im hit….at the end of the day every1 wants more success, more money and more fame no matter how it comes….and I think that himeshji has realized that he has got maximum fame from music to the limit so now its time to move on n look for greener pastures….that’s human nature to never get satisfied….every himesh fan and himeshji himself knows deep within his heart what he is best at….let me put it this way….n don’t take the literal meaning…”but himeshji is being selfish by denying his music in favor of his acting which has become more priority to him…in other words he is making his MUSIC the SCAPEGOAT (bali ka bakra) and safeguarding his acting interests….and you can also call me selfish as I don’t want himeshji to act so that he can give me my share of musical gems….himeshji you say…when there is faith there is no fear….but now you are fearing taking up musical assignments as they may harm your acting prospects….you are being partial….himeshji….even im your fan and I don’t get any pleasure writing all this…I know how difficult it is to get success in a new career especially when people are waiting to pull you down but I cannot do hypocrisy….there is a difference between aam junta who come to watch your movie….they really don’t care that much about such implications, and me….an HR-music freak who gets affected big time
Let me put it like this….all the king khans, hritik roshan, akshay kumar, amitabh bachan….the list of stars goes on and on….have infinite fans who love their on-screen heroes….imagine if they turned overnight composers and reduced or finished their on-screen appearances to favor music (the exact opposite of HR’s case) then I would be surprised if the fans wouldn’t even raise an eyebrow, if not, then they are not true fans!
Whatever new decisions HR has taken now are very serious from music viewpoint….Every1 knows ke meri baat mein ek sachaiye chuppi vi hai….lekin no1 wants to accept it….i think most fans are just consoling themselves ki koi baat nahi….hota hai….chale ga….you can have countless reasons to defend his acting but truth always hurts n it is in front of you….i guess I should change my name to die hard HR (composer/singer) fanatic….himeshji if you read this….please forgive me if you can….il always still be your fan…. My heart wants the best for you but it also wants loads of your music….what to do….im caught up in an awkward dilemma as both sides of the coin cannot be heads!!??!!??….i only wished someone could understood my emotions, my side of the story

@die hard HR fanatic just now i read what you have written with lots of effort. i do agree with u and after reading what you have said, i think i have known the extent till which u have been influenced by his music, or may be there is no extent ;). being a muslim, i was never involved more into music. but ever since i have started to listen himesh bhai, my sister says me that ek zamaney main app assi nahin thie. recently my brother told me that he only listens to him because his music is nice and the lyricrs are fazoul, but i always found something deep in his songs, whether it is jhalak dikhlaja or main jahan bhi rahoon. you were absolutely right, singing has certainly given himesh bhai a great recognize in the world. today everyone says himesh singer and not himesh actor. and i personally feel that his music has bought a great change in the industry. at this time, if i have been attracted to anyone as much people were to nusrat fateh ali khan and all those big legands, i must say it is himesh bhai. particularlly, because of his distinct voice and compositions and ofcourse music as well. but on the other hand, himesh bhai has taken the decision to act as well along with singing, so what can we do more then posting our comment and feelings here and expecting that he may be aware of all this. as jem says he is human and not a machine, which is true, with his this decision he can not produce 6-8 albums along with acting. and even if he does, which he is capable of doing, then surely he will have to work like a machine with 18 hours of work per day and then every year will be same as it has been last year with loads of work and less free time for his persanol life. her insaan ko ek onchi per pohanchaney key liye mehnet kerni perti hai kuch arasay key liye, phir jab woh usay achieve ker leyta hai(which himesh bhai has done) tub ussay stable ho ker chalna perta hai lekin us unchi ko bhi maintain rekhna chahiye, which himesh bhai is going well with aur allah unko hamisha us unchi per hi rekhey(amin). it is even dissapointing for me to wait so long for his new songs, but now as he has taken the decision we can not do anything, as far as we have no personal links with him. i have always been saying that it is the person in him which has attracted me so much towards him and not his singing, but now i think it is same with his singing as well. who will wish to lose such a great music, but on the other hand, he is a person like all of us with a family responsibility too, then if under these circumstances he works all the years the same as he has been last year, then i believe it will not be fair with him. he has also got so many people around him to worry about and not only us. at first he is a human and then a singer and an actor. we have to think about him as well. i know u r very much influenced by his music and it does take lots of effort to write your feelings the way u have and i do respect it, but still yaar he is a human first with a family and a social circle around. and he is definately not going to limit his singing to just one album, as this will also be unfair with his talent. bas jo bhi ho acha hi ho, hamarey liye bhi aur himesh bhai ke liye bhi. na woh apni singing teen sey kaam karain aur un ko ek achi life bhi miley. at last this is all that i can say about his music ‘very precious’ ;;).
