Let’s Rock
Ive listened to the album also and i was impressed, the songs are EXCELLENT!!! I fav would be “Aashiqana Alaam Hai Ishq Nibhaja…” even thogh all the songs are GREAT!!! TWO thumbs up 4 HIMESHJI, he did a wonderful job again!!! =D =D =D
This is how I would rate the songs:
1. Dard-E-Dil – an unconventional song that sounds different from HR’s usual style, although I would usually never do so, but considering other songs I rate it no.1
2. Meri awargi – decent but ‘deja-vu’ (already expected).
3. Aashiqana aalam – decent but ‘deja-vu’ (already expected).
4. Good boy bad boy – the weakest song in the album n the lyrics ‘ek jhaapi mere yaar di..me good me bad boy’ not the ideal lyrics to begin an opening number.
All songs are average to decent with nothing out-of-the-box, a rocking chartbuster (atleast one) is missing, unlike his recent past albums. It’s a usual routine album. Again lack of variety in terms of male voices. The new dj’s on board for the remixes are good for a change. I get that ‘deja-vu’ kinda feeling that ‘oh I have heard this sound sometime somewhere in the past, it sounds similar to something’. I point out that there is absolutely nothing wrong with the album but according to reshammiya’s standards its mediocre. Well, this is what I honestly feel about the album.
Also I feel that reshammiya should give better work to big banners like that of ‘the showman’ subash ghai..actually I would compare this album in the same league to shaadi se pehle..which also had average to decent songs..again I say that this album is fine for small to medium banners but for subash ghai!!..n I have noticed that himesh gives real good music under subash ghai’s banner when abbas-mustan are the directors..anyway..i would not prefer reshammiya doing many comedy movies or any for that matter coz I don’t think he is best suited for them..actually he gets wasted there..agreed that he gives youthful peppy rhythms but at the expense of melody…unlike his songs in romantic love stories or thrillers where his talent gets exploited n melody is the winner.
hi! i like meri awaargi. it’s fantastic!
great work himeshji!
meri awaargi is very good to hear! i just can’t stop listening to it!
@die hard HR fanatic: awesome review =D - See to me, Good Boy Bad Boy, looks like a full on commercial movie, hence I feel Himeshji has tried to give such songs which would suit the storyline more e.g. the group number aashiqana alaam (if you see the promos of the movie, one can see that it is set in a college campus hence the lyrics of the title track ;)) Aashiqana alaam has Himeshji’s trademarks e.g. the echoing of the violin melody & the strong background beats
It also seems that this movie is not song orientated which is why there are only 4 songs plus remixes…we must remember that Himeshji is given a brief of the story to which the music has to fit….Although I agree too that Shaadi se pehle was a disappointing album (maybe coz Himeshji didn’t sing in it hehe)…yet GBBB has not disappointed me at all! These are just my thoughts
Jem
HI!
i just love the song meri aawaargi!
JEM, can you tell me who’s the female singer in that song?
let’s rock
@swatee: Hi swatee!! the female singer is Himani Kapoor
Will update with a tracklisting guide soon!! Jem
@jem..i agree to what you say..well..it is of no doubt that himesh’s music is very close to me or to every1 here for that matter..he is a legendary rockstar n the undisputed king of indian melody..but after all he is also human and not a machine or ..ummn..a hit-machine (or is he! fun intended)..nobody is perfect..im nowhere near perfect..in that context i can’t expect himesh to give all chartbuster/hit songs or to please me..so whenever i post nything..my intention is not to pull him down or undeservingly flatter him for that matter, especially when it comes to his albums/work..i just get the latest album, hear it on repeat mode and then post honestly as to what i feel about it (to my best ability)..and being a hard-core fan i really appreciate it that i can express my feelings here (though at times i get cautious of complaining too much at times, due to your ‘about us’ page..
@every1..i feel that himesh has exploited alka yagnik’s voice to the fullest in the past..in short “himesh reshammiya+alka yagnik = melody”…hope that himesh does more work with alka in the future..n aap ka suroor songs have full plans to bully the charts soon..i hope that each song is like the title track of his usual movie albums..its a pity that being an overseas student I don’t have access to anything except the web and so i miss out on all the himesh interviews, promos etc..but atleast i am happy that due to this site,i get all the latest news and a special mention for the ‘filmography’ due to which i cant miss a single album in the future!
….the site team and himesh reshammiya rock!!
@die hard HR fanatic: yaar you’re comments are always appreciated!!! I look forward to reading your reviews as they always have some truth in them
but ya…we can’t expect Himeshji to keep giving us hit after hit, akhir woh bhi ek insaan hai naa? The main plus for us all should be that we love each & every track of his…& that quite something in itself
& I totally agree Alka ji always sounds gr8 when she sings for Himeshji (altho am not sure what happened when it came to “Kitna Pyar Karte Hain” from Banaras - I felt she struggled in some places…) e.g’s of some of their hits together include: Teri Chunariya (Hello Brother) Oodhli Chunariya (Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya) up til “Rock Your Body” - 36 China Town
Keep posting!! Jem
