Ludhiana, December 22: Himesh Reshammiya may have drawn a lot of criticism due to his nasal voice and because he compared himself with some great singers of the past, but Ludhiana is totally smitten by his magic. His fans proved that here today.

To get a glimpse of Himesh, they piled up on one another. His bodyguards found it tough to take the singer to his hotel room.

Himesh was here in connection with a concert where he sang to a packed hall.

Himesh was quick to defend his style too. “This is the style that has given me popularity. I know 99 per cent people love me for this and if 1 per cent have a problem, I cannot do anything about it. And my tone is not nasal, it is high-pitched.” About his cap which he is never seen without, the singer said: “Well, the mystery will be solved in my forthcoming film, Apka Saroor, which is releasing in June 2007. I will be taking off my cap for 10 whole minutes in the film.”

Not letting the scribes change the topic, he added: “Anyways, all this talk about me always sporting this sad look, this cap and coat thing, and other remarks hold little meaning for me. All I know is that this cap is very lucky for me and it is my lucky charm.”

And he is also not against the remix trend. “I have nothing against remixes, but then the remix videos need a little censoring. Apart from this, the DJ remixing the oldies should give credit to the original music composer, singer and lyricists. This is just a part of professional ethics,” he said.

Apart from his film, Himesh is composing music for films like Red and Namaste London. But no, he has no plans to cut a Punjabi album. “For my Punjabi fans, there is this song coming up in Namaste London with typical Punjabi tones. The song is being filmed on Akshay Kumar and has been penned by Javed Akhtar.”
