Himesh Reshammiya is on roll. Just after finishing his final touch ups on ‘Antony Kaun Hai’, he is ready with his next musical venture ‘Rocky- The Rebel’. The interesting point to note is that even after working at this pace he is able to deliver hits after hits. Anu Malik and others should learn a lesson or two from this music vending machine.
Directed by Suresh Krishna this movie star Zayed Khan, Minisha Lamba and Isha Sherwani. Lyrics is by Sameer. With youth icon Zayed in the lead you can expect some trendy and youthful tracks. There are more than ten songs in this album. Himesh Reshammiya croons majority of the numbers.

The album begins with a youthful music ‘Junoon’. Featured on Zayed Khan this song perfectly matches with the youthful and wild image of the star. A high caliber trendy number this one hooks us with its engaging music and rhythm. As always, Reshammiya breezes through this track in his characteristic, rocking manner. Reshammiya’s invention Amrita Kak lends him full support. Even in her short appearance she is able to make her mark in the hearts of music lovers. Like many of his earlier tracks this one too can come high up in the musical ladder.

This is followed by its remix version. Keeping the original rhythm in place this track experiments on its beats. It gets a bit swifter and faster. This club mix styled track takes us through a new musical experience.

‘Laagi Chute Na’ is a fusion of Indian folk and western music. It is a Rajastani folk styled song with western musical arrangement. Like all Reshammiya music this one too is high on beats and rhythm. Once again the music director comes behind the mike for this foot tapping musical number. The remixed version of this track follows the suit and carves its own space in the music world.

After these high voltage numbers the mood suddenly gets mellow with the song ‘My Love For You’. This time Sameer gets his English lyrics right and comes up with an interesting piece of poetry. Akriti Kakkar impresses us with her rough voiced rendition. This slow rock number may not get wholesome attention, but it surfs through the musical scene with its head held high. Remixed version too makes for a good hearing.

Himesh teams up with his lucky mascot Tulsi Kumar for the next song ‘Teri Yaad Bichake Sota Hoon’. The unique musical arrangements of this track demand our attention. Once again Sameer pens a sheer poetic piece for his musical companion. More than singing, the musical arrangements gets the song going. Reshammiya sounds different in this roller coaster number. As usual Tulsi Kumar makes a perfect company. But this time this musical duo may not be able to recreate their magical touch. When it comes to remix version its effect fades away before the well-crafted original fusion music.

Reshammiya hands over the mike to a newcomer for this bollywood masala number ‘Dil Rang Le’. Vinit makes good use of the opportunity and comes up with a revitalizing performance. Sunidhi Chauhan has ably supported him in this musical endeavor. Both these youngsters let off all their inhibitions and deliver a jolly good rhythmic dance number. The remix makes use of bhangra beats to heighten the party mood and it succeeds in establishing itself as a rocking party track.

As we approach the end of the rollicking album Reshammiya invites us to feast on an 80-model rock track. ‘Rocky Rock The World’ is actually the title track of this album. This track may look completely out of place, but it has its moments in the course of the movie. Remixed version with its highly modern musical arrangements makes up for the original’s lack of modern feel.

To sum up, ‘Rocky’ may not be one of Reshammiya’s popular albums. But the songs in this one are enjoyably trendy. ‘My Love For You’, ‘Dil Rang Le’ and ‘Junoon’ stands apart. On the whole this album is a good buy.
