From collaborating with his mentor Salman Khan to paying a tribute to RD Burman, singer Himesh Reshammiya is on a roll.

Current music sensation Himesh Reshammiya was flooded with birthday greetings in the month of May, when his actual birthday happens to be this month. Was he then observing ‘double’ birthdays based on numerological calculations? “I don’t have two birthdays! It’s on July 23, not May 11 as has been incorrectly posted on websites,” he clears any confusion, “It was rather embarrassing when I got over 6000 greetings from fans all over the world.”

As for his actual birthday plans, “I am planning to launch my first-ever fan-friendly website with factual data.”

Busy shooting his video ‘No Way’ for the movie ‘Anthony Kaun Hai’, Reshammiya, whose father Vipinbhai was a part of the late RD Burman’s band of ace musicians, might try stepping into RD Burman’s shoes. More so since he has been picked by Ram Gopal Varma for his version of ‘Sholay’. In this film, Reshammiya will also be singing the ‘Mehbooba Mehbooba’ number. “My version of Panchamda’s ‘Mehbooba’ will definitely not be a re-mix. It will be my original composition with different but hi-tech orchestration score to match,” he informs.

As for any thought of replacing the late Burman, “ I am not trying to imitate or step into Burmanda’s shoes; he is a musical legend. The ‘Mehbooba’ number and the other six original numbers in Varma’s ‘Sholay’ will be my tribute to the maestro.” He adds, “If I reach 25 per cent of RD Burman’s versatile genius, I will have fulfiled my music mission.”

Sources say the singer is also planning to record a number with his mentor Salman Khan. “Getting Salman to sing is definitely a top priority. It will be a creative high for me. Since the expectations will be sky-high, I am not in a hurry.”

The singer denies reports that his own debut as an actor is on the cards. “I get lots of offers to act as the lead in movies, but I am not interested in acting at all. I will be in front of the camera only for music videos or for friendly appearances in movies. I am content with the response and recognition to my unconventional singing,” he signs off.
